Being that I was in most of the show it's been hard for me to objectively view the episodes as an audience member. Mostly I sit and make notes on myself for things to fix or work on. There were, however, several key scenes (in "Ruined" especially) that I was not in, which moved me greatly as I watched. For example: When Theresa played Arlo's music box up in Bill's room, I nearly cried.
So I have to ask the fans here, what moments, if any, moved you? If so, how? If not, why not?
Just making sure I'm not crazy for getting misty over a music box. ;D

Well I can say you were not the only one to get misty-eyed during this episode. I didn't cry at the music box, but I did cry when your voice was singing the theme song to the series. I didn't stop crying until Bill said "Well let's go get them." I am very intrigued now to see what Season 3 holds in store for us...and for the people at the end of the universe.

"Ruined" was a very emotional episode. Sam put Astrid through hell and my nerves were raw. I have to say that Theresa playing the music box almost made me cry. I was really feeling her pain at the loss of Arlo. I was choking up when Travis offered his life for Astrid's. I broke down completely during the scene with Astrid and Bill. I have cried every time I've heard Astrid sing "The House Between". But, this scene really had me sobbing. It was almost more than I could bear when Travis said, "Goodbye, Cherry Pie" and I saw the tears run down Bill's cheek. Bill and Theresa were practically at each other's throats in Season 1. To see Theresa standing beside Bill, with her hand on his shoulder, comforting him, was very touching. Excellent job, Alicia. I would probably still be crying if Bill hadn't said, "Then, let's go get them." John, that was a masterful stroke of genius. I am so glad that the Season ended with the remaining denizens getting galvanized and ready to go out and get their friends back. It would have been too painful to have it end at the tears. The special effects rocked, especially the ending as it was very Twilight Zone-ish. Loved it. Glad you worked long and hard to create it, John. It was definitely worth it! Do you plan on using a similar ending for future episodes? The music seemed extra special. I was really touched by the closing tune. Thank you Mr. Latosa and Mr. Gallegos for your creativity and expertise. The show just wouldn't be the same without your wonderful music. I am so looking forward to Season 3. Can't wait to see how this problem will be resolved. I wish you all a healthy, happy and problem-free time during the filming of Season 3. Good luck!

Mandy and faninawe, Thank you for writing to the board to discuss your feelings on "Ruined." I have to confess, it was Joe Maddrey's genius that came up with the "let's go get them!" line at the end of the episode. He felt we couldn't end on the point of total annihilation, and said, let's make it "The Empire Strikes Back" rather than "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" (end of the world...). As you said, a good decision. I was simply clever enough to take a good idea when I heard it! As far as the special effects, they took forever to accomplish, but considering our budget, I'm very happy with how they all turned out. I'm so happy you noticed! (Sometimes, those accomplishments go unnoticed, especially when we have such charismatic and talented performers, as well as such - *ahem* - great stories.) I know Joe feels much the same way as I do, but one of the most emotional moments for me in the entire series is when Theresa comforts Bill with her words about "matter never dies" and that's "why we're wll immortal," and the show cuts to that montage featuring the lost: Arlo and Astrid. It still gets me every time. (Especially with that music, which Faninawe noted.) Hopefully Year Three will pick up all the disparate pieces of "Ruined" and prove to be another riveting, original and surprising ride... Thanks again for your comments and input. As I like to say, the best is yet to come... JKM
