In the interest of making voting as easy and fun as possible for everyone, I thought it would make sense to post the following information: Use this link to vote, it takes you directly to the ballot: www.syfyportal.com/genre-awards/2008/index.phpThank you, John, for posting the correct link (you really pulled my fat out of the fire). Sometimes things are just beyond our control. If links on other websites are not updated as promised, there is nothing to be done about that. I know the people at SyFy Portal are working their fingers to the bone to make this happen. I really do apologize for any inconvenience. Since this is the first time most of us have taken part in voting at SyFy Portal, I suppose a glitch, here or there, was a foregone conclusion. It should be smooth sailing from here on out. You can vote for your favorite picks in the 2008 SyFy Genre Awards, beginning tomorrow, 6/25/08, at the SyFy Portal Homepage:
www.syfyportal.com/
Just click on the "Twilight Zone-looking" striped cone on the right side of the banner. It will take you to the official ballot.
Michael Hinman will also post a link to the ballot on the Forum pages here:
www.syfyportal.com/community/index.php?board=92.0
Voting is open to everyone! You do not need to be a member of SyFy Portal to vote. ;)Votes are now tracked by email address. If you have more than one person in your household who wishes to vote, they can as long as they have their own separate email address/es. Multiple votes from a single email address in a day will be thrown out. They used to track votes by IP address, but changed that policy in 2007 after receiving so many complaints. I hope this information helps. Now, prepare to go forth, have fun and VOTE! Good luck to "The House Between"!

Wouldn't you know it? Now, the link at the Twilight Zone cone, is working on the SyFy Portal homepage! I guess the voting started on time, but they still weren't ready. Michael still hasn't posted the link on the Forum that he said he would. It's pretty bad, when you do all the research, ask all the questions, get all psyched up, you feel good about having all your ducks in a row, the big day comes and nothing works! I felt so bad about that all day. I am just so thankful that JKM was on the ball yesterday morning. I slept in late as I didn't get to sleep until after the sun came up. John came to the rescue. He's our hero!

Thank you, John. [ blush, blush] Michael Hinman finally posted the link to the ballot on the Forum over at SyFy Portal. He posted in reply to the following question from a lady who had just signed up (mrsfernandez): Re: 2008 SyFy Genre Awards Nominees « Reply #16 on: Today at 03:51:47 PM » "I am very excited about the upcoming syfy awards, and can't wait to start voting. I just recently found out about this award on Emma Watson's web site and was eager to see all the nominees. I am also very glad that this is open to everyone, but I am having trouble finding the ballot button. According to her site voting was to start on the 25th of June and run till the 25th of July. How soon will the ballot be up for voting? Thanks much, and looking forward to vote."The SyFy Genre Awards are mentioned on Emma Watson's website? You've got to be kidding! It's there! I checked www.emmawatsonofficial.com/#news/show/332Hope this translates into more exposure for " The House Between"! ;D

I was a little confused about the confirmation emails.
Michael Hinman said today, "Remember that you will have to put in an e-mail address every time you vote (which you can do once a day until July 25). You should get a confirmation e-mail the first time only. After that, you will need to put in your e-mail address, but you won't keep getting a confirmation e-mail.
Unfortunately, we had nearly 4,000 votes in our first day, and the system bogged down trying to send out 4,000 confirmation e-mails. So if you have yet to receive a confirmation e-mail (only once), please e-mail our site programmer Nick Chase at nchase@syfyportal."
I had to email Nick Chase as I didn't receive my confirmation email the first time. All you do is send a blank email to genreawards@syfyportal.com with the following as the subject, "MANUAL CONFIRMATION". You will receive an automatic email response. At that point you send a blank email to nchase@syfyportal.com with the following as the subject, "I GOT THE AUTORESPONSE". Nick will manually add your email address to the confirmed list and send you an email saying you are now cleared and you don't need to do anything else except vote everyday:-)

Two more websites with a link to the SyFy Genre Awards... www.allisonmack.com/forum/index.php/topic,626.0.html www.david-tennant.com/I loved this quote (one of many) from David and thought I would share: "I was playing King Arthur in Edinburgh, which was only my second job, and the review in The Scotsman said: `The cast of 18 are uniformly excellent, with the exception of David Tennant, who lacks any charm or ability whatsoever." Which I have to say floored me for quite a while." David on the harshest critic he has encountered : The Guardian 1999 Lucky for us he didn't let those remarks dissuade him from pursuing his acting career. Wonder what they are saying about the 10th Doctor now?

I received another email, today, asking me to confirm my vote. So, after having been told that we should only receive a confirmation email "once", I posted the following at SyFy Portal: Re: 2008 SyFy Genre Awards Nominees « Reply #20 on: Today at 08:26:27 PM » After I voted today, I received another confirmation email, from genreawards@syfyportal.com; Subject: Please confirm your Genre Awards Vote!, (click on the link within the email to confirm your vote). Will everyone receive this who votes today? Is this going to be a "once a week" occurrence for the duration of the voting? Thanks! The following is the reply that was posted: Re: 2008 SyFy Genre Awards Nominees « Reply #21 on: Today at 10:12:46 PM »
Theoretically you should get a confirmation message every day, but we overloaded the server with them! So as long as you've confirmed once, don't worry about it. I'll be changing that message soon to avoid confusion.
Thanks!
---- nick I can only speak for myself, but that is exactly what I need, an end to the confusion!

I tuned in to Michael Hinman's radio show tonight. He mentioned the SyFy Genre Awards. He said voting is about half over and they have already received about 22,000 ballots! They only received approximately 25,000 total for each of the past two years! Looks like they are going to break a record! We have our work cut out for us. KEEP VOTING! Don't get tired and stop or even worse, forget. Keep going and let's help The House Between come out on top! You can vote once a day, for each email address. Thank you for all your hard work and support thus far and Keep Voting!

The SyFy Genre Awards are growing by leaps and bounds this year. Most current estimate on number of ballots, as of 7/13/08, is more than 35,000! I was surfing some sites and ended up at SnitchSeekers.com. A good deal of the Harry Potter fans are voting. Some of the voter locations (at this site) included, the UK; Jakarta, Indonesia; Denmark; Wales; and, The Netherlands. The girl from The Netherlands posted that she had no idea for who she voted in all the other categories [the ones not HP related], she just voted for what sounded best. I was thinking that I hoped "Returned, The House Between" sounded best! It does sound good, right? KEEP VOTING!

I asked Michael Hinman yesterday, at the forum on SyFy Portal, if he could share any information with us concerning the voting; total ballots, etc. He said, "Results are still being calculated. Even I don't know." Bummer. I tried. He was a lot more chatty and sharing last year. Of course, last year, he didn't have the flu and a perforated eardrum! Feel better soon, Michael!Guess they are all busy gearing up for their big 10th anniversary celebration which you can hear at SyFy Radio Wednesday, 8/13/08 at 10:00 p.m. ET. (They are planning to announce 2 of the winners that evening). If I do hear anything, I will post it here!

Well, Michael Hinman, of SyFy Portal, finally posted an article today regarding their 10th anniversary and giving us a little bit more information about voting results. Quote from Michael, " So tune in at www.SyFyRadio.com tonight at 10 p.m. to join the fun. And if you're reading this after the fact, still click the link and listen, because we'll have an archive version of the show for you there. Also, we'll be giving away the entire DVD series of "Masters of Science-Fiction," including two never-before-seen episodes. And we'll also randomly choose two categories from the SyFy Genre Awards, and tell you who the winners are of those two categories, more than a week before we release the results of our voting, which brought in some 50,000 ballots." Read Michael's entire article hereSo, we know that they more than doubled the total number of ballots they received in the past two years. Also, we know that the full list of winners will not be revealed for more than a week. I'm just speculating, but Michael may be planning to reveal the winners in conjunction with his regular SyFriday column which would be on 8/22. But, I'm betting it won't be until 8/25, as the voting ran from June 25th to July 25th. I plan to listen to his show tonight and I will post here afterwards. I am hoping he announces tonight that The House Between won Best Web Production. The suspense is killing me. ;D

I just wanted to add a thought. Over 50,000 votes cast, less than 100 votes separated first and second places. Well, THB, are you feeling the love yet?
